WWE RAW Results - 31-12-07

December 31, 2007

The show opened with a video package hyping Randy Orton as a champion who rose to the occasion to take out opponents along the path. The voice-over man proclaimed him the greatest Raw superstar of 2007.

Right on cue, Randy Orton was in the ring to start the show. The spotlight shined right on him with all the house lights turned down. His music stopped and he was serenaded by boos. Orton said 2007 could be summarized by three letters: R-K-O. He said he went from a legend killer to a one-man dynasty. In 2008, he’ll be more ruthless and dominant than ever. Orton said he’ll start the new year as champion, and he will walk out of 2008 still the WWE champion. More boos. Suddenly, Jeff Hardy’s music interrupted and the place went nuts. Jeff slowly walked out to the ring, taking his time to let everyone get a good look at him. Hardy eventually entered the ring and stared Orton down. He said Orton can talk all he wants, but right here, it means nothing. Hardy said it’s about what you’ve done lately. They went back to two weeks ago when Hardy pinned Orton in the tag match main event.

Back in the ring, Orton said Hardy got lucky. Hardy said it proves he can beat him. He said he has all the momentum going into their match at the Royal Rumble. Orton then told Hardy to talk to Michaels and Cena about what he’s done to them lately. Orton paced around the ring while the fans chanted, “You suck”. Orton said momentum can take a quick turn, so he needs to pay attention. Mics dropped. They went nose-to-nose, then Orton suddenly went for the RKO, but Hardy blocked and nailed the Twist of Fate in center ring. Orton collapsed on the mat while Hardy stared down at him, then Hardy posed for the crowd and hopped over the top rope to the floor.

- They aired a lengthy video package on Ric Flair’s retirement angle, mixed with some classic Flair footage. They showed Vince McMahon throwing down the Ultimate Challenge of Flair’s career being over the next time he loses a match.

- Ringside, Ross and Lawler plugged Hunter vs. Flair, then showed Shawn Michaels walking backstage ahead of his match against Mr. Kennedy.

[Commercial Break]

They plugged Raw Roulette from the Mohegan Sun on next week’s Raw. Everything is on the line. Uh-oh. Does that include WWE Title shots?

Backstage, Jeff and Matt met up to talk things over. Matt said it’s good for him to get out of the house and catch up with everyone. Jeff asked about the appendix. Matt said he hopes to be ready in time for the Rumble. He then talked about Jeff giving him the first title shot when he beats Orton for the belt. Jeff said it would be an honor to give his older brother the first shot. They left to go talk things over.

Mr. Kennedy walked out to the ring and waved off the mic drop. Ohhkaay. Shawn Michaels then came out for the match. Could have used a little pre-match hype to explain why they’re having a PPV re-match on TV without anything on the line.

[Q2]

1 — MR. KENNEDY vs. SHAWN MICHAELS

Before the match started, Ross said Mr. Kennedy has all the ability in the world, but at some point, he has to win a career-defining match. Kennedy isn’t selling the hand injury from the PPV anymore. They started with a basic series of standing exchanges, with Kennedy trying to be the aggressor. Michaels caught Kennedy in the corner, then dragged him to center ring with a half-crab, but Kennedy go a rope break. Michaels tried to work over the knee, but Kennedy tackled him, taking them both through the ropes to the floor. Kennedy quickly slipped back into the ring, but Michaels beat the ten count back in.

[Commercial Break]

They returned with Kennedy in control. He set up Michaels in the corner and landed a big running knee smash to Michaels’s forehead. Kennedy maintained the smash for added effect. At 10:00, Kennedy took Michaels to the corner and nailed a high-impact superplex for a close nearfall. He went back to work on Michaels’s back with a mat hold, but Michaels broke free, nailed a forearm smash, and kipped up to make his comeback. Michaels nailed consecutive atomic drops, but he kept selling the lower back. Michaels then took a while going up top and Kennedy moved out of the way of a top rope elbow. Kennedy tried a quick roll-up, but Michaels kicked out just in time. Michaels quickly went for a sunset flip, but Kennedy countered. They went into a great series of pin attempts that resulted in a nearfall for Michaels. Beautiful. Michaels elbowed out of a fireman carry and went for a superkick, but he couldn’t get anything on it with his back sore. Kennedy then nailed a modified STO for the pin and the win. Ross said that on this night, Kennedy was the better man.

WINNER: Kennedy in 15:00. Great match. PPV-quality match-up with a clean finish that made sense because of the work Kennedy did on Michaels’s back throughout the match. Kennedy is so talented that he just needs to work his aggressive style of match and not worry about the people in his ear giving him too much information. A real good sign for Kennedy going into ‘08. Michaels, of course, was simply a master in the ring. (***3/4)

[Q3]

Backstage, Todd Grisham asked Triple H for his thoughts on facing Ric Flair tonight with Flair’s career on the line. Hunter was reflective as he built up his dilemma. He said he goes into every match the same way: losing is not an option. Hunter said without pausing that at least if Flair loses, he’ll have lost to the best. Suddenly, Vince McMahon interrupted with his stooges. McMahon built up Flair’s career being on the line, and him being the genius behind the idea. McMahon asked Regal what happens if Hunter loses tonight. Regal said, “if you lose in any way tonight, you will not be participating in the upcoming Royal Rumble match.” Hunter turned sour, then McMahon turned sour and said, “Happy New Year.”

[Commercial Break]

In a pre-tape video, Jillian Hall, half of Big Dick Johnson, and Ron Simmons wished us a happy new year.

Backstage, Regal wished McMahon a happy new year. Suddenly, McMahon’s phone blew up. He has own theme music as his ringtone. Classic. Someone from USA Network interrupted. Probably the new marketing boss. McMahon put him on hold, then told Regal to have another match against Hornswoggle tonight. He told Regal to show him some tough love. Regal was overjoyed to spend NYEve beating up Hornswoggle.

Ross and Lawler introduced a video package on the Tribute to the Troops show from last week. Back ringside, they plugged JBL coming up on the show.

[Q4]

[Commercial Break]

The Royal Rumble video package aired with people beating each other up on a subway. Michael Buffer took a superkick from Shawn Michaels.

They aired a video package on the first Rumble from January 1998, with Hacksaw Duggan winning the match. Cue up Lillian Garcia to introduce a Rumble qualifying match. And out came Duggan. Umaga came out as the opponent.

2 — HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN vs. UMAGA

Umaga quickly punched Duggan down to the corner. He then warmed up the train for the big running rear splash and Duggan ate rear end. Duggan rolled out of the corner with red liquid emerging from his mouth. Umaga then picked him up and landed the Samoan Spike to the throat for a quick win.

WINNER: Umaga in 2:00. A nice, quick squash to get Umaga a win after getting beat up too many times by Hunter the past two months. (n/a)

Backstage, Flair shook hands with Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly. McMahon then interrupted and sent the tag champs away so he could talk to Flair. McMahon asked if he was ready for one last run in the ring. He said there’s no more kiss-stealing, limousine-riding, or wheelin’ and dealin’ after tonight. “It’s over,” he quietly said. “Over.” Flair simply stared at him, then McMahon walked away.

Ringside, Ross and Lawler talked about this possibly being the final match for Flair, right here in Greensboro. They transitioned to footage from Jericho having his title opportunity against Orton taken away at Armageddon when JBL interfered in Jericho’s match.

[Commercial Break]

JBL’s music hit and the limo pulled out with JBL inside. Lillian Garcia said it was his Raw debut. I guess we’ll just skip the fact that he was on Raw with Simmons a few weeks ago. Kind of like Dustin Rhodes showing up out of character on Impact and not realizing his alter-ego had been on the show for months.

[Q5]

Anyways, after a long pause in the ring, JBL lifted his arm to set off a round of fireworks. He continued to stare into the crowd, then he raised his other arm to set off another round of fireworks. That’s an expensive unofficial debut. After another pause, he raised his arm again to set off more fireworks. Click. Click. Click. After more pausing, he raised both arms this time to set off more fireworks. His music finally stopped and the fans booed him. JBL took the mic and said this day will be known for one thing only: the day that JBL returns. I thought it was his debut. So confusing. He said tonight is so momentous because he doesn’t even have to be here. He’s got money everywhere. JBL said he’s here only because he loves power and domination. He said he loves taking small people and squashing them under his thumb because he can. JBL said he is the worst nightmare because if he can’t buy it, he’ll take it.

Chris Jericho’s music interrupted and Jericho stormed the ringside area. They started a fight on the floor with JBL holding a several-inch height advantage. Jericho pushed JBL into the guardrail, then JBL pulled him to the floor. Jericho ripped off JBL’s dress shirt and untucked his shirt. Security and agents finally came to ringside and tried to separate them, but they reached their feet and continued to fight. JBL tried to kick Jericho from a distance, but Sgt. Slaughter pulled Jericho out of the way. JBL, with a cut on his nose, was subdued by Windham as the camera zoomed in tight on the cut.

JC: Nice piece of storytelling there. Something that stuck with me from Bret Hart’s book was a line from Stu Hart in the middle of a match that he was paying a wrestler to work, not to shoot. JBL is so much bigger than Jericho that he looked like he could kick Jericho’s ass whenever he wanted to during the brawl, but that doesn’t make anybody any money. The key was creating a sense that Jericho could take him as a scrapping fighter. That’s where the intrigue is with both guys working together to create a hot segment, not JBL beating down Jericho in that moment.

[Commercial Break]

They came back and recapped the previous segment, focusing on the brawl ringside. Backstage, JBL screamed at referees and agents that he came to Raw to save the show, and no one treats him like that. He said he will buy them and sell them, and there’s nothing they can do about it.

Melina, then Mickie James came out as challengers to Beth Phoenix in a Women’s Title match.

3 — Women’s champion BETH PHOENIX vs. MICKIE JAMES vs. MELINA — Women’s Title match

The bell sounded and Melina pretended to want no part of the action, but she shoved Mickie from behind and Beth slammed Mickie to the mat. Melina continued to sit in the corner waiting for her moment, then Beth grabbed Mickie and gave her a double chicken wing slam. Melina tried to make a cover, but Beth pulled her up by the hair. Melina and Mickie then nailed a double enziguiri kick on Beth, but they couldn’t decide on who should cover Beth. Mickie and Beth then brawled in the corner before Beth KO’ed Melina on the apron. The action broke down at 3:00, then Mickie went for a roll up on Beth, but Melina rolled up Mickie for a two count.

[Q6]

The challengers dumped Beth to the floor, then Beth was suddenly on the apron. The challengers quickly nailed her with a double dropkick off the apron. Mickie nailed a lift-up DDT on Melina and covered her, but Beth made the save just in time. Beth then chucked Mickie to the floor and picked up the scrap heaps of Melina. She went for the Fisherman suplex and connected in center ring. Beth made a cover and Mickie was just moments too late to break up the three count. Afterward, Beth gloated with the title belt while Mickie fought back tears of frustration.

WINNER: Beth in 5:00 to retain the Women’s Title. Really nice match with a nice clean-up in post-production. Good storyline advancement between Beth and Mickie to keep Mickie in the title picture without having to lose a match. (*3/4)

[Commercial Break]

Vince McMahon’s music hit and he walked out with William Regal following close behind. Regal prepped for a match in the ring, then Hornswoggle’s music hit to a big pop. Horny slowly walked out to the ring showing fear with the deck stacked for the 10,000th time. McMahon dropped to one knee and gave Hornswoggle a little talk before sharing a hug. Aww. McMahon told Regal to shake hands with Hornswoggle, and they did.

4 — HORNSWOGGLE vs. WILLIAM REGAL (w/Mr. McMahon)

Regal comically locked up with Hornswoggle and drove him into the corner. He yanked him around the ring before giving a clean break. McMahon offered encouragement to Hornswoggle from ringside. Regal then took Hornswoggle down and measured him for a left hand as McMahon stood on the ring steps. Regal then turned and looked back at McMahon, who wasn’t sure why Regal was holding back. Regal dragged Hornswoggle to the corner, then went in for a talk with McMahon. Hornswoggle took advantage and punched Regal in the groin. Regal got mad and wanted to punch Hornswoggle again, but he held back. McMahon screamed at him to punch Hornswoggle, but Regal wouldn’t do it. He then pulled out some brass knucks from Regal’s jacket and told him to use them, but Regal wouldn’t do it. Regal let go of Hornwoggle, and Hornswoggle scampered out of the ring.

McMahon stepped into the ring and casually slapped Regal across the face. McMahon started strutting around, then said he was testing Regal. He said Regal failed him. He didn’t want Regal to hit him; he wanted to see if Regal would hit him. McMahon asked Regal what happened to him. “Who are you?!” he shouted. McMahon pointed to the exit ramp and told Regal to hit the road. Regal reluctantly left the ring and headed to the back.

WINNER: No Contest in no official time. If this is the start of a babyface turn for Regal, then it’s a great piece of theater to get the program started. Intriguing segment, but it’s only as good as the follow-up the next few weeks. (n/a)

[Q7]

[Commercial Break]

After the break, they recapped the opening segment with Jeff Hardy embarrassing Orton with the Twist of Fate. Hardy then came out to the ring for a match against Santino. Maria led out Santino and Carlito, who didn’t seem to be sure of why he was with the two odd lovebirds. I’m not sure how Maria was breathing in a super-tight black spandex dress.

5 — IC champion JEFF HARDY vs. SANTINO MARELLA (w/Carlito and Maria) — non-title match

Hardy got a fast clap started in the audience, and Santino comically accepted the ovation, thinking it was for him. They had a brief lock up to start, and Hardy landed an arm drag. Santino tried to return the favor, but Hardy pulled the rug out from under him. Santino smiled and clapped it up for Hardy before slapping him in the face. He then tripped Hardy to the mat and landed forearm blows for a one count. Hardy came back with a back spin kick before nailing the corner double-foot dropkick. Hardy rolled Santino over and went up top for the Swanton Bomb, but Orton showed up on the Titantron. He screamed at Jeff that he’ll have to spend the new year with his brother, Matt, in the hospital. Orton said he kicked Matt where his appendix used to be. He then went for a punt to the head on Matt. Could have used another take on that one, as Orton didn’t get Matt clean. Jeff quickly ran out of the ring, then found Matt on the floor backstage. Medics checked on Matt while Jeff called out his name to get a response.

WINNER: No Decision in no official time. Good to see Orton getting the mean streak back leading to the Rumble match against Hardy. After Jericho called out Orton for being boring two months ago, they haven’t gone back to square one of establishing Orton’s quick-strike ability to severely injure someone. (n/a)

[Commercial Break]

They came back and recapped Orton’s heinous attack on Matt during Jeff’s match. Ross called it one of the most distasteful interruptions of a match he can remember. Ringside, Ross and Lawler talked quietly about Orton’s actions. Ross said Hardy hasn’t even been cleared for physical activity, and then he was punted in the head. His voice trailed off to sell the story…

They cut to the locker room where Hunter and Flair talked things over. Hunter talked himself up and said there’s no way Flair could think he has a chance at his age. Flair said that when he looks at Hunter, it’s like looking in the mirror and seeing himself 20 years ago. He said Hunter will be his friend the rest of his life, no matter what, but that’s not the story tonight. Flair said he wants Hunter to be The Game - he has to be the man every night. But, it’s Flair Country tonight, and he has to be Ric Flair. Flair said Hunter might be the best right now, but he isn’t The Man until he puts him away. Flair told him not to worry about friendship. “You just bring…the…game,” he told him matter-of-factly. Hunter tried to talk down to Flair, but Flair cut him off and said he will rise to the occasion tonight because he has to. Hunter got the lost word: “You be The Man, and I’ll beat The Man.” Damn.

[Q8]

[Commercial Break]

They plugged the Raw Roulette show next week.

Triple H’s music hit at 10 minutes before the top of the hour. He did his entrance, then Ross and Lawler talked about their emotions going into the match. After a pause, Ric Flair’s music hit and the crowd popped big. Flair came out with a big smile on his face before getting serious on the way to the ring. Ross talked about the historic nature of the match. He talked about Flair winning the NWA Title at the first Starrcade in 1983 here in Greensboro. A match that’s also stood the test of time from that card is Piper vs. Greg Valentine in their brutal dog-collar match.

6 — RIC FLAIR vs. TRIPLE H — Flair’s career vs. Hunter’s Rumble spot

The match started with Flair doing a little showboating before Hunter took advantage of Flair with a stiff right hand blow out of the corner that drew boos. Hunter woke up Flair, who started chopping his way out of the corner. Hunter then caught Flair with a back elbow smash in center ring that drew more boos. Flair made another comeback with hard chops before Hunter nailed a face buster for a nearfall.

[Q9 -- over-run]

At the top of the hour, Hunter went back to work on Flair in the corner with right hand blows. He executed a neckbreaker for a nearfall. Flair retreated to the corner, but caught Hunter napping with a stiff right hand chop. Hunter reversed a whip off the ropes and protected Flair on a basic spinebuster. He then measured Flair for the Pediguree, but Flair countered with a backslide for a nearfall. Hunter quickly got up and stomped Flair to put him back on the mat before slapping on a sleeperhold. The fans rallied behind Flair, who broke the hold with a belly-to-back side suplex. They reached their feet and went into a standing fight. Flair knocked Hunter to his knees with chops, then he Whooed and executed a double underhook butterfly suplex. Wow.

Flair caught Hunter in the corner with an elbow smash, then he went up top. Oh no. Everyone came to their feet as Flair fought off Hunter and landed an axehandle smash for a nearfall. Flair strutted, then he started working over the left knee. Flair then dragged Hunter to center ring and went for the figure four, but Hunter pushed him away. Flair caught Hunter in center ring again, and slapped on the figure four this time. The crowd came alive as Hunter screamed in agony. Ross and Lawler went into their A-game selling the emotions of the match. Hunter kept trying to reach for the ropes, but Flair pulled him back into center ring. Hunter screamed in agony, then put his shoulders down for a nearfall. Hunter screamed, grunted, yelled, shouted, turned eight shades of red, and kept trying to grab the ropes before finally reaching the bottom rope to break the hold. The crowd groaned after running the gamut of emotions.

Flair got up, Hunter got up, and Hunter suddenly nailed Flair with a Pedigree in center ring. Hunter sold a knee injury, so he couldn’t make the cover. He tried to crawl over and make a cover, but William Regal suddenly came to ringside and smacked Flair with brass knucks. The ref called for the bell, and Regal turned around and left. Flair was announced as the winner by DQ and Hunter was beside himself. Ross asked what the hell Regal was thinking by doing that. They replayed the finish as Hunter slowly picked up Flair and helped him to his feet. The fans cheered as both men embraced in center ring. Ross emphasized that both men will remain best of friends. Flair had a noble look on his face with his chin jutting out, just moments away from tears. Hunter’s emotions were hidden by his hair, but the camera got one last close-up of both men acknowledging the other’s brilliance in the match. Fade out.

WINNER: Ric Flair via DQ in 14:00.

Saturday night, December 29: 12:00 midnight; 1:00 am
Sunday night, December 30: 10:00 pm
Tuesday night, January 1: 2:00 am

Currently scheduled for the broadcast:

Josh Prohibition vs. “Megastar” Marion Fontaine
Josh Prohibition and Johnny Gargano proved to be a very successful duo on our last broadcast of PWO TV, when they used their skill, resourcefulness and a little chicanery to down the team of “M-Dogg 20″ Matt Cross and “Fabulous” John McChesney. With no one having heard from either Cross or McChesney since the loss a week ago, one has to wonder if Prohibition & Gargano have successfully eliminated two of their most threatening rivals. This week, Prohibition enters singles competition against one man who’s no stranger to threatening rivals, Marion Fontaine. While Fontaine may be undersized and outmatched on the surface, the Megastar has a heart and athletic prowess that more than makes up for any physical shortcomings, as evidenced by Fontaine taking the monstrous Cronus to his absolute limit on our last broadcast. Will Prohibition be able to continue his winning ways or will the tenacity of Fontaine win out? And what about Fontaine’s apparent manager. “Macho Grosh”?!?

Jason Bane vs. “Amazing” N8 Mattson
He is already on his way to establishing himself as the most dominant man in the state of Ohio. He’s at least 6′7″, he’s at least 300 lbs. and he is an absolute wrecking machine named Jason Bane. In his PWO debut, Bane quickly disposed of three different men in a gauntlet match, and now has his sights set one-on-one. N8 Mattson is a physically impressive star from the Michigan area, part of the “Michigan Invasion” tag team which stresses anyone from their home state is superior to all others. Will Michigan win out this time or will the huge Jason Bane continue his stretch of domination?

“Bloody” Morty Rackem vs. Virus
Our debut broadcast of PWO TV featured a fast-paced, action-packed, high-flying showcase of two amazing teams: Virus & Virus Grande, collectively known as V-Squared, and “Bloody” Morty Rackem & “Ruthless” Rufio Rapier, collectively known as The Cut Throat Crew. After V-Squared cheated to come out on top, and The CTC retaliated by commandeering V-Squared’s car, PWO management wanted to bring you a special return bout this week, but apparently an incident has occurred to prevent that. Rumors state that an altercation occurred between V-Squared and Rufio Rapier in an undisclosed location that left Rufio with career-threatening injuries. Not only that, but sources also indicate that V-Squared made off with the Cut Throat Crew’s priceless heirloom swords. How will Morty Rackem react to his fallen partner and will he be able to survive Virus one-on-one and retrieve the prized swords he holds in such high regard?

Tune in the weekend of December 29th for all that and more! Remember, Pro Wrestling Ohio is only available on Sports Time Ohio! If Sports Time Ohio is NOT part of your DirecTV or Dish Network package, no matter where in the U.S. you are, call your satellite provider today and demand STO! TNA iMPACT Results - 27-12-07

December 27, 2007

- On Thursday’s broadcast, Abyss sat down with Mike Tenay for a rare interview to speak out about the claims by his former manager James Mitchell that Abyss is hiding another, more darker secret from the world. During the interview, Abyss confirmed that his name is indeed Chris Parks. He also told the world that he has known James Mitchell “too long” and when the topic of his parents were brought up, Abyss made it clear his mother raised him – not his father as Mitchell claims. When Tenay asked Abyss to reveal the “secret”, the TNA superstar said the secret lives with him – and it will die with him. In fact, Abyss stated, he will never tell the world. When Tenay gave Abyss one more opportunity to talk about the secret, Abyss stood up in a show of force – then walked off the interview set!

- Speaking of Mitchell, his current protégé the maniacal Judas Mesias made his TNA in-ring return, beating Senshi in singles action. It was also announced on “iMPACT!”’ that Abyss will battle Judas Mesias at “Final Resolution”.

- The other big story coming out of Thursday’s “iMPACT!” was that “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles is under pressure to pick a side in the war between TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle and “The Instant Classic” Christian Cage. Early in the broadcast, both Cage and Angle called out Styles to make his decision, but Styles accidentally got knocked out during a melee between Cage and Angle. Later on, Styles and Tomko faced the Motor City Machineguns in a non-title bout, but when AJ kept asking advice on who he should join, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley took the opportunity to beat Styles in the bout.

- Booker T was scheduled to face Robert Roode, but that match never took place as Sharmell and Karen Angle both got into a catfight. As a result, Booker made the challenge for a tag team bout for later on, promising to find a partner to take on Angle and Roode. Booker ended up getting Cage as his partner, who shares a common hatred for Angle and Roode. The Instant Classic got the win in the tag team bout, then demanded Styles come out to give his final decision. With Angle also wanting a final choice, Styles stood between Angle and Cage and couldn’t answer! As a result, Styles still hasn’t made his decision as to who he will side with.

- In other news from the broadcast, Team 3D paid a visit to TNA Management Director Jim Cornette’s office to officially object to being forced to compete in an Ultimate X Match at the January 6 “Final Resolution” Pay-Per-View. When Cornette told them they had no choice but to fight in the dangerous bout, Team 3D promised that neither “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal nor The Motor City Machineguns would even make it to the match in one piece.

- Speaking of Cornette, the management director also had words with Samoa Joe on the broadcast over his recent bad attitude. In turn, Joe absolutely destroyed “Primetime” Elix Skipper in singles action and got disqualified in the process – telling Cornette the slaughter was his fault and that he would continue to raise hell until he gets what he wants. When Joe attempted to continue his rant, TNA management apparently ordered that his live microphone be cut off.

- The Knockouts of the Women’s Division were in action on “iMPACT!” as the team of TNA Women’s Champion Gail Kim along with Angelina Love and Velvet Sky defeated Jackie Moore, ODB and Roxxi Laveaux.

- Speaking of Gail Kim, it was announced on the broadcast that she will once again defend the TNA Women’s Championship against the juggernaut Awesome Kong at Final Resolution in a No Disqualification match!

- During a backstage interview with “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner and Petey Williams, Steiner reiterated that he still wanted Williams’ shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Petey refused to give in and walked off, at which point Steiner claimed he would get it from him – one way or another.

- Also, Dustin Rhodes called out Kaz to “give him the opportunity” to apologize for attacking him in recent weeks, claiming he had no idea why Kaz would do that to him (despite the fact that Dustin’s alter-ego Black Reign put his pet rat Misty on his face). In turn, Kaz and Dustin got into another brawl that went all over the Impact Zone – and at one point, Kaz dove off the top of the bleachers taking out Dustin and TNA security in the process.

WWE RAW Results - 24-12-07

December 24, 2007

After filling in for TNA and WWE’s “C” and “B” show in the past, I’m finally filling in on the big stage: Monday Night Raw. It’s like being called up from OVW. How long after my push starts do I get my meaningless title run, than pushed back to curtain jerker status because I was promoted terribly?

Let’s get to the action.

The show opens with a montage of the soldiers and the narrator telling us it’s the most important show of the year. They show the wrestlers mingling and it’s basically I believe the same commercial they’ve been showing in advertising the event.

Ringside the soldiers are chanting U-S-A! Michael Cole welcomes us to the show and Jerry Lawler does as well.

Randy Orton is making his way down to the ring to kick off the show and the ring canvas is blue. I don’t remember if it was blue in the past, but I don’t recall it being so. It probably was. Randy Orton was booed of course.

Hey there outside, Jericho must have broken the walls down and he makes his way to the ring. Helicopters fly over and Cole mentions the event is taking place in the old Iraqi soccer stadium. I think that’s what he said?

They recap what happened at Armageddon with JBL booting Jericho’s head 6 inches sharp right.

Jericho vs. Orton (non-title)

-The match is under way and they lock up with Y2J getting Orton down. They lock up again and Orton backs his opponent into the corner and goes to work. He whips him in the opposite corner and runs at Jericho, but he moves and than hits Orton with a series of arm drags. Down on the mat Orton locks in a body scissors for Jericho to only wiggle out and hit a dropkick and the fans chant Y2J.

Jericho goes for the walls of Jericho, but Orton fights his way to the ropes and gets out of the ring. Jericho stays offensive though and springboard splash’s Orton from the inside to the outside. Jericho stomps Orton than grabs a soldier’s camera and takes a picture of a beaten down Orton. The jokes of Jericho come back to hurt him and Orton gets control. Orton hits his DDT with Jericho’s legs on the 2nd rope.

We go to commercial at 9:10, 6 minutes into the match.

Hey, it’s an American Gladiators commercial! (I’ll be checking it out, maybe).

Back to the show Orton has a headlock cinched in and Jericho is trying to battle out of it, but it’s not happening. Orton is now in stalker mode, stomping strategically, but trying to drop a knee Jericho moves and starts laying in the chops. Orton battles back and locks in a sleeper only for Jericho to finagle it a notch down to just a reverse chinlock. Orton takes the hold down to the mat and Jericho gets the crowd to rally around him as he tries to battle out of it. He hits an elbow to Orton’s gut than a belly-to-back suplex. Both men are down trying to recover from the fatiguing action. Jericho uses the ropes to get to his feet, but Orton didn’t have to.

Jericho comes off the ropes with a flying elbow than hits a big forearm for 2. A missile dropkick for 2. Orton tries to come back, but Jericho locks in a Boston crab than Orton rolls it up for 2. Jericho comes back with the lionsault for 2. Orton comes back with a thumb to the eye for “ahhs” from the crowd. Jericho is down and Orton does his fist pumps on the mat and goes for the RKO, but Jericho spins him around gets him down for the Walls of Jericho and the bell is ringing! Did Orton give up?

Nope, it’s JBL’s music. That damn stock market bell. JBL comes down and has words for Jericho and Orton hits the RKO from behind.

Jericho wins by DQ on JBL’s interference in 14:00. (**1/4). Pretty decent opening TV match.

After Jericho gets out the ring JBL gives Orton a clothesline from hell.

It’s commercial time at 9:22. They showed a commercial for Ric Flair vs. HHH next week on Raw. Do both men have too much pride to just have HHH lay down for Flair to get the win?

Back from commercial Michael Cole brags about how WWE brings more entertainment than anyone else does to the soldiers.

We get another montage of the wrestlers interacting with the soldiers and them all thanking each other for what they’re doing. Rey thanks the soldiers for doing what they do, Cena called it a humbling experience. Kelly Kelly was shown hugging soldiers, Ron Simmons saying Damn, Lillian Garcia being picked up. Jericho, Maria, Matt and Jeff Hardy, Shawn Michaels and pretty much anyone else that was there got a spot or two in it as well. A lot of Diva shots. Sorry, the shots move so fast that it’s impossible to follow them all and type it out.

Back to commercial at 9:29.

Jeff Hardy makes his way to the ring and Cole talks about him being one of the guys who put themselves on the map in 2007. He just put himself on the map? Really?

Carlito is out next and he’s Jeff’s opponent.

Carlito vs. Jeff Hardy

-Jeff goes after Carlito, but he ducks under the top rope. Jeff makes his way back in the corner and goes to work on Carlito and takes him down. Cole is shilling hard for Jeff on commentary. Jeff hits a shoulder block and slams Carlito out of the air for a 2 count. Jeff whips Carlito in the corner who tries to leap over a charging Hardy, but Jeff yanks him down. Carlito comes back with a big slap and moves to stomping him in the corner. Jeff heads outside and slaps hands with the soldiers and Carlito doesn’t like that so he follows him outside. Jeff goes back inside the ring and when Carlito tries to get back in he’s met by Hardy’s foot. He hits a flying clothesline from the top to the outside.

Back in the ring Hardy goes for the swanton, but Carlito moves. More fists from Carlito an irish whip and Jeff hits the whisper in the wind out of it. Both guys are down for the 10 count, but both guys are up. Reverse neckbreaker from Jeff for 2. Jeff hit’s his swinging leverage springboard dropkick in the corner. Jeff goes for the twist of fate, but Carlito turns it into a neckbreaker for 2. A frustrated Carlito reaches for his apple, takes a bite, but Jeff hits a jawbreaker and the apple chunks fly. He heads up top and hits the swanton for 3 in 7:00. (*1/2).

They take another look at life on base for the soldiers. This time it takes a look at the artwork of the soldiers. They focus on a particular guy whose name I did not catch who made a painting that seemed to be of importance. Again, I apologize for not being able to catch all of this.

We go to commercial again at 9:42.

Back from commercial they’re talking to a soldier who was around when a suicide bombing took place killing 19 soldiers. The guy tears up while talking about the incident and the people who he knew died from the bombing. He talks about how everyday they fight in Iraq it’s for the lost soldiers and making sure they don’t die in vain.

Vince McMahon is now making his way down to the ring, now he is inside of it and he has a microphone of course. Vince is wearing a red sports coat. That’s different.

Vince plays good guy and thanks the troops and talks them up. He says wherever the soldiers are in action, WWE will be right behind them. Vince talks up the divas and it’s time for them now.

Kelly Kelly comes out first with a Mrs. Claus kind of get up and of course the soldiers are eating it up.

Layla comes out next who is actually her tag team partner.

Mickie James is next to follow, than Maria in an American Flag theme costume.

Kelly Kelly got the biggest pop it seemed to me, but she was also the first one out.

We get a commercial at 9:53 before the match. Tomorrow night you can relive the year of extreme in 2007 on Sci-Fi at 10.

Back from commercial the action has started.

-Maria and Layla are in full catfight mode down on the mat and Kelly Kelly gets the tag than Mickie. Kelly whips Mickie into the ropes and goes for her cartwheel handspring elbow, but Mickie Moves and Kelly’s back eats the buckle. Mickie goes for the pin and the fight is breaking down. Layla and Kelly are down and Maria and Mickie go for double broncobusters.

Vince McMahon gets in the ring and says the fans have seen enough. Vince says Santa Claus isn’t coming to Iraq this year. Santa Claus makes his way to the ring though and he has a bad arm! Is it John Cena? Nah, it actually sounds like the real Santa Claus. Santa says he has bad news for Vince. Since Vince was a little child he’d always been a bad boy. He says he remembers Vince as a little child walking into a convenient store and it was on that day that he stole something. Santa sees all remember? It was a magazine, but not any magazine, it was a naughty magazine. Santa reiterates how bad Vince was as a child. Vince says that this Santa is not the real Santa. It seems Santa has proof in the form of a letter Vince as child wrote to him. Santa says the letter is over 100 years old and the crowd chants “old as dirt” at Vince. The letter says that Vince would love a rooster with a beautiful coat, a giant rooster. HHH is writing Cena’s jokes! Vince apparently also wanted a red rider BB gun. Vince says you’re not the real Santa, who are you? Cena unveils himself and hits an FU on Vince and the crowd eats it up.

With Vince laid out, Cena says Santa brought his sack and it’s quite bulging and heavy. Than says he doesn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea but these sacks are full of gifts to spread the Christmas cheer. Than asks the divas for assistance in doing so.

Whose more perverted on their best night? Cena or HHH? One of those guys has to go heel. When Cena comes back they can’t both be running around as faces making the same jokes. It’ll be an hour a night of the same character.

I guess the divas match is a no contest at about 4:00 by the way. (DUD).

Another montage of the soldiers and this one is much more cheerful. They talk about the joy the Iraqi children have for the soldiers and how they greet them and appreciate them.

That was a long segment and it’s commercial time at 10:07.

Back from commercial they show clips from a reinstatement ceremony that took place earlier in the day. A montage of the soldiers with the wrestlers again. That was a long montage.

USA’s character to watch is the Predator, if you’re curious. Wasn’t he the character to watch last week?

I guess it’s a full on commercial break again. It’s 10:14 now. They’re gearing up for the 2nd quarter of the 2nd hour. Spider pig, spider pig, does whatever a spider pig does. They’re still making American Pie movies?

Ok, back from commercial they talk about the Iraqi soccer stadium. They talk about the legend that Hussein had the soccer team all killed when they lost a soccer game. Jericho talks about how that’s part of the reason why they had to come here.

Rey Rey is making his way to the ring and stage dives into the crowd. It’s hard to judge the size of the pops at the distance I am from the television, but that may have been the biggest of the show so far.

Whoa how a crowd shifts. Henry is out now and you can imagine the roar of boo’s, or just hush silence in the awe of the world’s strongest man. Yeah, there is some boo’s I guess.

Rey vs. Henry

-The bell rings and Henry is scolding Rey like it’s his 7 year old child. Rey showing his guts by going at Henry, but he just shrugs off the biggest little man. Rey gets thrown into the turnbuckle now and Henry just stomps him down to the mat. Rey fights back with kicks to get out of the corner than a dropkick, but Henry don’t go down. Henry with a press slam and he stands on Misterio for a 2 count. Henry goes back to ‘84 and applies the bear hug. It looks like he made up with his son.

Henry goes for a splash, but Rey moves and hits a kick to the jaw. Rey hits a west coast pop for 2. Rey hits a baseball slide kick to Henry’s lower region in the corner. Rey hits the 619, but Henry powers up and throws Rey away. Rey comes back with a roll-up and gets the pin in 5:00. (1/4*).

Another segment with the Soldiers talking about IED’s, which are some kind of Explosive Device that is one of the most dangerous things for the soldiers in Iraq. They than talk about a vehicle called a “buffalo” that they use to hunt down the IED’s and get rid of them.

Commercial again at 10:28.

John Cena at the army base segment now. Cena shows off his military knowledge in talking about the stuff inside the walls at the base. The soldier Cena talks to tells America to “keep rocking in the free world and we’ll keep kicking ass over here.”

It’s time for the Raw rebound and they recap the Flair vs. Umaga scenario from last week. Than they hype the Flair vs. HHH match for Raw next week again.

Jericho now has his own segment on the base. It follows Jericho from when he was leaving the states than forwarding past the 22-hour flight to him arriving in Iraq. They show him taking pictures with the guys and signing autographs. Jericho is shown around and gets to check out a helicopter and some of the other forms of weaponry on base. Jericho is amazed by it all. He says it’s like a movie, but it’s real.

Commercial time at 10:39. They hype the greatest matches of 2007 special in place of Smackdown on the CW this Friday night at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. (Cheap plug time, as I’ll be covering it here for you all on Gerweck.net, by the way).

Officially back from commercial and DX is making their way to the ring. Cole says the soldiers requested a DX reunion for the show and they got it. Ok, that I’m pretty sure did beat Rey’s pop.

HHH has a mic and the crowd is chanting DX. HHH tells the crowd to be quiet for a second and tells them he has a question that needs to be answered. “Are you ready?” Rooooaar. “No, I said are you ready?” Roooar. For the thousands in attendance and the millions watching all over the world, we have the pleasure of standing with the greatest fighting force on God’s green earth! “U-S-A!” The crowd erupts. “Let’s get ready to suck it!”

That was nice.

HBK has the mic now and says that if you are not down with the men and women of the military we got two words for you! Suck it!

Just like old times.

Umaga is making his way to the ring, than Kennedy follows.

Commercial time before the match takes place. It’s 10:50. I guess we got a decent 10 minute main event ahead of us. Hey, it’s more spider pig.

Back from commercial the match is underway and HBK is battling Kennedy in the ring. HBK with a shot at Umaga and a body slam for Kennedy. HBK heads up top and hits his flying elbow. He plays to the crowd and is already going for sweet chin music. Umaga takes him out though and Kennedy with the cover and gets 2. Umaga gets the tag in and hits a couple of head-butts on HBK. He drops a big knee to the chest and gets a 2 count. The crowd is rallying for HBK to get in some offense and he’s attempting to with chops, but Umaga comes back with a big uppercut. Umaga tags in Kennedy who hits some forearms. Kennedy with a keylock and now a “Kennedy sucks” chant from the crowd. HBK is up, but still in the hold and trying to drag Kennedy towards his corner, but Kennedy cuts him off with a kick and a thumb to the eye. Umaga gets tagged in while Kennedy holds HBK in the corner and he gets in some shots. Umaga clamps on the Samoan nerve grip hold of death on HBK. He gets to his feet and brings some chops, but an Umaga head-butt takes him back down and Kennedy gets tagged in. HBK doesn’t have much left in him and whatever’s left he’s using to try and fight back and Kennedy pulls out the rolling senton, but HHH breaks up the cover.

Umaga gets tagged in and he goes for the 2nd rope flying head-butt and HBK moves. He gets the hot tag to HHH and he goes off on Kennedy and hits the high knee. He throws Umaga into the turnbuckle and a spinebuster for Kennedy. HHH flexes, kick to Kennedy’s stomach and he goes for the pedigree, but Umaga breaks it up. HBK hits sweet chin music on Umaga, than sweet chin music on Kennedy. HHH hits the pedigree on Kennedy for the 3 count in 11:00. (**1/4).

I wonder if they knew Kennedy was actually going to have a good performance at Armageddon for a change, if they would have had Umaga take the 3 count?

After the match DX plays to the crowd and they can’t help but love it. They invite the troops to come into the ring.

Closing the show Cole thanks the troops, wishes them a Merry Christmas and says America is behind you.

They close the show with another montage of the wrestlers with the troops.

Overall: A pretty ok Raw. Obviously this show is about the troops and not advancing storylines, although they were able to incorporate the JBL vs. Jericho feud into it. The Jericho vs. Orton and DX vs. Kennedy and Umaga matches were both pretty decent. The rest of the wrestling was forgettable. If you’re a Cena fan I’m sure you enjoyed seeing him on TV again and that’d be a plus as well.

The troops sure seemed to enjoy themselves and got to see a lot of the WWE superstars in action and that’s what matters most.

TNA iMPACT Results - 14-12-07

December 14, 2007

We get a video package from last week’s show.

-Christian Cage makes his way to the ring to kick off the show. He says when he showed up, he heard the talk behind his back. That he got what was coming to him last week. That he deserved the attack. He agrees. Shut up Don West. When you’re the champ, looking down on everyone, sometimes you get what he got. He even calls himself a prick, and he likes being that way. Every time he gets beat down for being the asshole he is, he’ll get up and continue being a dick. And that’s why he is a star and makes him who he is, and why we’re just “us.” Tonight, there will be a tag team match. Roode and Angle vs. he and partner of his choosing. He doesn’t think it is a secret that he and Angle have huge egos, but TNA is not big enough for both of them.

Angle, Karen and Roode come out to the ramp. Angle says he needs to shut up. They gave him the beating of a lifetime, and Cage is still there talking shit. Angle agrees to the match and dares him to fine a partner. No one in TNA likes him, and he’s screwed. Angle says he is a general and they are at war. He leads the Angle Alliance, and Cage is a private in the army. Cage says he won’t take orders from a guy that can’t keep his wife in check. Karen only takes orders for $50 when she turns tricks. Nice. Roode gets pissed and won’t listen to Cage anymore. Roode says they are ready and tells Cage to find a partner, because they’ll see them later tonight.

-JB is with AJ and Tomko. JB asks about the blow up and Tomko says Cage got what was coming to him. AJ says he thought he had a great plan for them to be a strong family. Tomko says AJ went wrong trying to be Deon Sanders, and now they have to choose sides.

-Tenay and West talk about finding out who got what in the mystery cases. They also hype the rest of the show.

-We get a history of the feast or fired bullshit.

-Crystal is with Petey Williams. They talk about the cases, and Petey talks about working out and such. He is 110% sure that he has the TNA World Title shot in it.

-Hermie Sadler is out for commentary.

Christopher Daniels vs. Scott Steiner vs. Petey Williams vs. BG James w/Kip and Roxxi

Petey is ridiculously jacked; drug testing in TNA, right. Speaking of Jacked, here’s Scott Steiner. Where’s Senator Mitchell when you need him? Thanks Cook. Everyone brawls to begin. Petey has Lex Luger’s old tights it appears. Steiner tosses Daniels around and then runs into Steiner. Petey wants a flex battle, they have a pose down and then level BG and Daniels. Petey mocks the Steiner elbow and pushups. Steiner then tosses Daniels to the floor and then BG knocks Steiner to the floor. Jawbreaker by Petey and a kick to BG. He poses again. BG and Daniels back in, they lay the boots to Petey. Off the ropes and a leg lariat by Daniels. BG tosses Petey off the ropes and punches him. Irish whip and Daniels with a charging knee, followed by a clothesline from BG. Steiner back in and nails Daniels, TBONE to Daniels. One for BG. Overhead toss to Daniels. Steiner recliner on Daniels, BG breaks that in and gets dancing jabs to Petey. Pump Handle slam broken up by Daniels. Angels Wings on BG! CANADIAN DESTROYER by Petey on Daniels! Steiner then grabs Petey and lands a belly to belly and that is all.

Winner: Scott Steiner @ 4:09 via pin

That actually wasn’t bad. They kept the action going and I really have no complaints other than it was short. Rating: *¾
-JB is in the ring. Steiner can chose to take a check for $50,000 and opt out of the whole deal. He could also take his case, or one of the other cases. They play some Deal or No Deal like music, and Steiner says he could share the money with the freaks. But he wants a world title shot. He then takes Petey’s case.

-Back from commercial and someone will open their case right now. Wow this really is Deal or No Deal. They have chicks on the ramp with the cases. They will open Petey’s new case, which was Steiner’s. JB says he has been there since 2003 and is a former X-Champion. He could get another title shot, or be fired. Petey thinks he’ll be sick. They open the case and Petey gets…the TNA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE SHOT! Steiner is pissed, TOO BAD, SO SAD SCOTT!

-Crystal is with Kaz. She asks him about his recent success. He learned lessons from Chuck Norris, and that is to stay humble. Now as for his match with Darth Maul, he’ll leave it out there. Cage is here and says Kaz will be his tag team partner tonight. He had the biggest win, a fluke, against Cage. And now he’s a star. He says Kaz owes him, and Kaz says he is spiritual and doesn’t like to make rash decisions. He says they need to close their eyes, and ponder this. Cage closes his eyes and Kaz runs away. BWAHAHAHAHA!

Rellik vs. Kaz

Rellik attacks at the bell and starts to beat Kaz down. He lays the boots to him, and then chokes him out. Kaz fires back, off the ropes and Rellik stops that but Kaz fires back with a series of kicks and cover for 1. Kaz sidesteps Rellik, and then gets a sweet plancha. And we’ll head to a commercial @ 1:00.

Back from commercial @ 5:00 and Rellik slams Kaz down. Rellik up top…MISSES a leg drop. Basement dropkick by Kaz. He gets a roll up for 2. Rellik misses a superkick, sweeps the leg and then gets a springboard leg drop for 2. Kaz misses a kick and Rellik with a big boot for 2. Kaz counters a reverse suplex and gets the wave of the future for the in.

Winner: Kaz @ 6:39 via pin

Kaz keeps rolling and Rebboj is still a jobbeR. The match we got to see was shorter than the commercial break. Epic Fail. Rating: No.
-After the match Black Reign attacks Kaz. He nails Kaz in the head with his wacky weapon. He now gets the rat and they put it in the bag and go to put it on Kaz’s head. Rellik holds Kaz and they pull the Missing in Action 2, minus the part where Kaz bites the rat till it dies. That actually would have been cool with his previous Chuck Norris reference.

-Strip Tease (Love and Sky) are with JB. They say that they are very experienced, I bet they are. They even say that they have spent a lot of times in hotels. They reprimand JB for being sexist, and say not to underestimate what they can do in the ring. They then mention they have a full schedule and will beat Moore and Brooks in three-minutes.

-Crystal is with Moore, Storm, Brooks and Roode. Jackie is wasted, and Storm compliments her tits. She’s in no condition to perform! Brooks tells her to sober up and gives her a chest bump as Storm compliments her tits again. Roode tells her to do something right and win. Isn’t this Gimmick Infringement on ODB?

Strip Tease (Velvet Sky and Angelina Love) vs. Jackie Moore and Traci Brooks

Moore fights with a bottle of beer, and even gets a flapjack, and doesn’t spill the beer. That’s greatness. Brooks takes her beer from her, and Moore gets knees to Sky. Hair mare and more boots. Moore nails Sky, hair mare to Sky and they puts her hat back on. She stiffs her with some forearm shots and then gets a side backbreaker. She tags Brooks, off the ropes and a drop toehold to Sky. Knens to the back, and then a clothesline. Brooks covers for 2. Sky gets a jawbreaker and Love gets a top rope cross body to Brooks. Running knee charge, Moore back in and Love gets a stunner variation. Kick to Brooks and a cover for 2. Brooks battles back, snatches up Love, but Love escapes and knocks Brooks into Moore and then rolls her up for the pin.

Winners: Love and Sky @ 3:00 via pin

Fun for the time given, but way too short again.
Rating: *½

-After the match Brooks and Moore argue, Roode is out and defends Brooks telling Moore never to touch her again. Brooks is smitten with Roode for defending her, and then calls her pathetic. He keeps putting the bad mouth on her as we see shots of Roode’s mystery fan. Roode says that she is nothing without him, and here comes Sharmell. She says she is sick and tired of this. She says that is no way to treat a lady. Roode says he doesn’t see any ladies out here. He then alludes that Sharmell worked a street corner and found Booker T. Roode says Booker may be a pimp, but he’s boss. He tells her to leave and Booker is out to run off Roode.

-Cage is with Crystal. He is going to talk to Nash. Cage sings the Wolfpack music and wakes Nash up. He breaks down the he is looking for a partner, and say sit could be fun. Nash say she is busy tonight, doing what he does best, sitting around getting paid. He says Cage can get a partner, down there. Down where? Down HERE!

-James Mitchell makes his way to the ring. He demands that Abyss comes out and here he comes. Mitchell says to stop posing and then tells him to sit down. He declines and then calls him CHRIS! Mitchell discusses being obsessed, but he has a right to be. He’s been the one to make an emotional investment in him. He pulled him from prison, gave him a clean slate and not only would he make his successful, CHRIS, and that they could be a family, like father and son. Mitchell says he made him a monster, he made him a world champion and CHRIS owes him everything. But Mitchell says he was betrayed, and he let it out that he watched his mother shoot his father. And now, he wants to hear CHRIS tell the truth! Mitchell says no one will believe him thanks to Sting, but they will believe CHRIS! CHRIS declines, and Mitchell goes to tell us and CHRIS attacks Mitchell. GOOZLE…LIGHTS OUT and Judas Mesias is back. He chokes out CHRIS with barbed wire. It’s slice and dice Abyss, complete with razor blades and blood packets. Yup, CHRIS is bleeding again and Mesias kills him with an unprotected chair shot. They tie his hands behind his back and another sick chair shot. A 3rd, CHRIS tries to pull a Foley and then eats Mesias’ finisher.

-JB is with Sharmell and Booker T. Booker drops WCW 2-seconds into the interview and then says Roode is screwing with the wrong person. Cage is here and apologizes for breaking in. He wants to clear the air. He says he didn’t give Booker a proper welcome, and this is a new place and times have changed. Cage says Booker in on his list and wants to be partners. He calls Sharmell Beyonce, Booker blows him off and leaves.

-Harris complains before the match. What a bitch.

Chris Harris vs. Booker T

Lock up and around the ropes they go. Booker breaks and Harris complains to the ref. Lock up again, Harris breaks, lays the boots to Booker and then lefts. You know, Harris is really letting himself go. He way always in better shape that Storm, and now that isn’t the case. He has the beer gut going, which you’d think it would be the other way around. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for wellness, but he has always been in good shape and now, not so much. Sidekick by Booker, chops, and a sidewalk slam for 2. Harris fights back, gets a clothesline that turns Booker inside out and then covers for 2. Harris off the ropes, BOOKEND! Ax Kick and that is all.

Winner: Booker T @ 3:10 via pin

Basically a squash.

-Back from commercial with JB, BG, Steiner and Daniels in the ring. They are doing more Deal or No Deal and we will open up another case. JB says he is a former tag team champion, and could get another chance. Or be fired. He gets a tag title match. BG says that he has yet to determine who his partner will be for the title shot. He and Kip argue. NO ONE CAN GET ALONG IN TNA!

-Crystal is with “Dustin Rhodes.” He cannot control Black Reign and has been scared his whole life by Black Reign. Kaz attacks him and beats his ass.

X-Division Lumberjack Match Strap: Johnny Devine vs. Black Machismo

All of the lumberjacks are X-Division guys. Machismo on the attack, tosses Devine and he gets whipped. Does it again, more whipping. Off the ropes and a back elbow by Devine. Devine tosses Machismo, and they “pretend” strap Machismo. Devine to the floor and they whip him, and he runs and hides under the ring. We head to a commercial @ 1:40.

Back from commercial @ 5:00, Devine gets tossed to the floor and is being whipped again. Tossed back in, LETHAL COMBO, elbow drop and that is all.

Winner: Black Machismo @ 5:55 via pin

A longer commercial than actual match shown.
Rating: Screw this.

-After the match the X-Guys hold Devine and they take turns beating him with the straps. 3D walks out with their belts in hand, Devine runs and 3D backs off.

-Another feast or fired review.

-It is time to see who gets fired. JB runs down what Daniels has accomplished in TNA, and he says that he put his heart and soul in the company, and has faith that the X-Division title shot is in his case. JB says Steiner has had a great run, gave up $50,000 and traded cases, losing the World Title Shot. Steiner says he is in a no win situation. Cornette doesn’t have the Spaldings to fire him. He also says Petey lied to him, and that there is NO LYING IN WRESTLING. He promises to get the case back from Petey.

-After a commercial we’re back. They have security at ringside and the fired person will be escorted out, NEVER to return! They open the cases, and Daniels is FIRED and Scott Steiner gets a shot at the X-Title. That might be glorious. JB wishes Daniels the bets of luck in his future endeavors. Daniels is a sad panda and looks like he may cry. He waves goodbye and leaves.

-Now that Daniels is gone, TNA has the room to bring in this guy:

CURRY MAN~!

-We see Cage and Joe arguing. Joe says when people go to war they always want Joe on his side. He starts bitching about his contract, and Cage says if he will be his partner and he’ll talk to management for him. Joe says he would rather be broke than tag with Cage. Joe says various people can suck his ass like 10 times. Cage says he will go to war with the only person that matters, himself.

Christian Cage vs. Robert Roode and Kurt Angle w/Karen

Cage attacks Roode right away and Angle is in, they chase and Cage fights, but is taken down by Angle. Roode in control and lands rights to Cage. He chokes out Cage. Cage tries to fight back, rights to Roode and then chops. Roode with chops now, off the ropes and a spin kick by Cage gets 2. Knees by Roode, to the corner and a tag to Angle. He lays the boots to Cage, but Cage fights back, off the ropes and a shoulder tackle and headlock takedown. Roode in, and Cage ducks a clothesline, inverted DDT on Angle and then a clothesline to Roode. We head to a commercial @ 3:00.

Back from commercial @ 6:45 with Roode covering Cage for 2. Tag to Angle, he lays the boots to Cage and then gets a headlock and body scissors. Cage to his feet, off the ropes and eats a clothesline, and Angle covers for 2. Slam by Angle, up top…MOONSAULT MISSES~! Sweet Jesus it is awesome though. Cage with rights, chops, Irish whip and a back elbow and hen the inverted DDT. Cage up top…FROG SPLASH misses! Angle rolls him up for 2. GERMAN by Angle. Another, a 3rd connects and the straps are down. Angle slam try, countered and Angle gets an ankle lock, countered and Roode saves a pin try. Cage sends Roode to the floor, chokes out Angle on the ropes and then Roode ends up hitting Angle. Cage tosses him again, and then rolls up Angle for 2. WWE SmackDown! Results - 14-12-07

December 14, 2007

-Edge came out first, asking for everyone’s attention. That “Rated R” hockey jersey does nothing for him. He re-introduced Vickie Guerrero. Vickie was wheeled out by Teddy Long, and was still sporting a neck brace. Edge rolled the footage of Undertaker pile-driving her. Edge said that disgusts him. Vickie admitted she wasn’t doing well, both physically and mentally. She said she has thought about getting psychological help. She talked about the main event at Armageddon, and said all three superstars would be in action tonight. First up: Edge. Edge said he wasn’t prepared, but Guerrero’s decision was final. Vickie told Teddy to go back and start Edge’s music. Ah, so THAT’S who does it.

1- EDGE vs. FUNAKI

I KNEW it was going to be Funaki! Edge was slightly bemused when Funaki’s music played. JBL tried to talk Funaki up as if Edge beating him tonight would be a feather in his cap. Edge locked up and then gave a clean break. Edge began hammering away at the former Kaientai member after a boot to the jaw. Funaki came back with a strike to the mid-section, then a bulldog. Edge reversed an Irish whip, but Funaki got the boots up on a charge. He tried a tornado DDT, but Edge shoved him off. He then hit a DDT of his own. Spear ended it for Edge.

WINNER: Edge at 2:27. You could see it coming a mile away. But it plays nicely into the storyline.

Vickie, who was still near the entrance, asked for a round of applause for Edge. She then announced that Batista would face Kane in a Last Man Standing Match. Undertaker will take on Mark Henry and Big Daddy V in a handicap match. Vickie ordered Teddy to take her back to her office; he paused at first, then relented.

-An ad for WWE’s Tribute to the Troops, airing Christmas Eve on Raw.

2- MICHELLE MCCOOL & KELLY KELLY vs. VICTORIA & LAYLA

A WWE Mobile “exclusive” showed Chuck going crazy backstage after his match with Noble last week, blaming his loss on Michelle. Kenny Dykstra was at ringside for Victoria. Michelle worked a headlock against Victoria early on. Michelle back-flipped out of a wrist-lock and arm-dragged Victoria down in a nice sequence. McCool tagged out and Kelly nailed Victoria with a crossbody for two. Kelly fought out of a fireman’s carry and was able to tag Michelle. She hit Victoria with a high kick, and the pin was broken up by Layla. That distraction allowed Kenny to trip Michelle. That brought Chuck Palumbo out on his bike, and he chased Kenny around ringside on it. But that distraction allowed Victoria
