Angle came off as a pretty decent and charismatic guy, but definitely put himself over many times as ‘an Olympic Gold medalist’.
Talked about Brock Lesner and his recent fight. Said that Brock was someone to watch and could clearly be seen as the UFC champion soon, maybe after the next few fights. Said he clearly dominated his debut match, but his brief hesitation cost Brock the match. Was pretty high on Brock overall, but told a quick WWE story in which the guys were able to get Brock into a ring once, and Angle slipped in took Brock down very easily. Despite what Brock may be saying on the Internet, Kurt says he had at least 40 witnesses that know otherwise.
Said Dixie Carter is opening other doors for Kurt, including spots on other shows and deal with other networks for appearances.
Said TNA was okay with him getting into MMA and he’d like to fight Randy Coture as his debut. Says he’s been training regularly and practicing Jiujitsu (sp?) and it’s a full body workout. Says he’s goo all the way round, but needs to work on his submissions more. Says the deck may be stacked up against him today since he’s almost 40 years old, but 10 years ago good easily have dominated anyone MMA could throw at him.
Said one of the reasons he left WWE was the workload. He said it put a strain on his marriage as well, being on the road 305 days one year, and TNA is not as demanding, but gives TNA 100% as he would do in WWE, because he’s a “company man, and very loyal”.
Talks about hating the wig angle in WWE, said he thought it was ludicrous that a ‘Olympic Gold Medalist’ had to do the wig angle, but a funny story out of it was he never washed it, and purposely would make sure HHH had whiffs of it in the ring. HHH told him it smells and washed it, but that was Angle’s rib on HHH.
Didn’t come out and say he was better than HHH, but hinted that WWE had whole segments around Kurt Angle even if he wasn’t main eventing like HHH was at the time.
Said he enjoyed his work with Hogan, that Terry was always good with him, and Hogan gets a bad rap, but agrees that Hogan did do a lot of back stage politicking but doesn’t fault him for that. Angle said anybody would do the same thing if given the chance.
Spoke about the only steroids he ever did were the ones right after his neck surgery and they were prescription from a real doctor. Angles said he learned after the fact that doctor may have obtained the steroids in a questionable manner.
During his neck surgery and rehab, says he lost 3.5″ in his arms.
When he wrestled with a broken neck in the Olympic games, he got 5+ Novocain shots in the neck before every match. Cortisone was a no-no since it was a steroid.
Says during his low time during hectic schedule, pain issues, and marriage issues, he was up to 50 pills a day, and then quit cold turkey.
Long segment on Pro’s vs Joe’s. Said he had a blast and purposely ran the Joe’s down to the point producers of the show said he crossed the line, yet they all knew it would be the best show yet, and thus made it the premiere. Said the guys were all very nervous when he cut a shoot promo on them, and even the producers weren’t ready for that as most of the Pro’s never say to much. Angle said they cut 80% of his promo and footage from the show because of his language and aggressiveness.

Devil Bhudakahn Memorial Show Update

On Saturday night, March 8, 2008, family, friends, co-workers, pupils, and fans alike will gather together at the Carnegie Library (Their Athletic Club), 510 East Tenth Avenue, Munhall, Pennsylvania 15120 to show their love and appreciation for everything that James Fawcett gave to them both in and out of the ring. They’ll express that love and appreciation by doing what they do best, something James Fawcett dedicated much of his life to, and what many of them dedicated their lives to right alongside him, professional wrestling. It will be a night to celebrate the life, the times, and the memories of a truly dedicated and special performer, peer, mentor, and most importantly, friend.
VERY SPECIAL RAFFLE ANNOUNCED
Fans in attendance on March 8th will not only have the chance to witness a once-in-a-lifetime historic card in the annals of Pittsburgh wrestling history, and not only be donating to an extremely worthy cause in the process, but will also have the opportunity to participate in the raffle portion of our show, where fans have an opportunity to win an exorbitant amount of rare, personally autographed wrestling memorabilia of some of the business’ biggest stars, past and present.

Dennis Gregory vs. Crusher Hansen
Devil Bhudakahn had a vision of Pittsburgh’s top professional wrestlers and wrestling organizations coming together in support of a good cause. It’s only fitting that in a show dedicated to his memory, that vision become a reality. Such a vision is not represented any better than with Dennis Gregory vs. Crusher Hansen. From his days as Bonecrusher, all the way to his current incarnation, Hansen has been a mainstay and major force in PWX for well over a decade. Meanwhile, Dennis Gregory’s dominance in the International Wrestling Cartel (as well as its predecessor, Steel City Wrestling), can be traced back to over a decade as well. Both men are among the most decorated athletes of their respective home promotion, and are perhaps as synonymous with their home promotion as anybody else, past or present. It’s a one-time opportunity to watch these two Pittsburgh legends meet in a collision of two very different worlds.
Special Appearance by Bubba the Bulldog
One of the most infamous and controversial personalities in the history of the area, wherever Bubba goes, news is bound to break. The former and once-again B-94 Morning Show host has accomplished a track record nearly second-to-none. In his PWX days, he fought hard to disprove critics who said he’d never be a success, not only capturing gold but leading his own stable “The Dog Pound”. In IWC, he was responsible for the termination of the careers of men like Shane Douglas and Eric Angle. Not to mention numerous WWE cameos throughout the years as well. What does Bubba have in store on March 8th with the eyes of everyone in Pittsburgh looking on?
Special Appearance by Quinn Magnum
Another longtime staple and legendary name in the Pittsburgh wrestling scene, Quinn Magnum at long last returns to the public eye. Magnum spent many years atop the PWX card, capturing championships and forging an indelible reputation. Still one of the most respected veterans in the area, when Quinn Magnum makes his presence known on March 8th, everyone will have no choice but to take notice.

Pick Your Partner: Shirley Doe & CJ Sensation vs. Super Hentai & Dirk Ciglar
Shirley Doe and Super Hentai are nearly synonymous with one another thanks to an extremely emotional love/hate relationship that has stretched back several years. Super Hentai was Devil Bhudakahn’s chief rival in the early days of each man’s career. Both men solidified their reputation in the area with high-risk, fast-paced offense with each match turning into a dangerous game of “Can You Top This?”. When Devil thought he needed help to put Hentai behind him once and for all, The Hellfire Club was formed, with none other than the madman himself, Shirley Doe, joining Devil as a charter member. On March 8, the rivalry is revisited as Doe and Hentai clash for the first time in nearly five years, with the added high stakes of each man selecting his own tag team partner which will not be revealed until the night of the event. Their last meeting was a Texas Death Match legendary for its brutality. What will Doe and Hentai do to one another this time?
Shirley Doe has opted to choose “Snapshot” CJ Sensation as his tag team partner. Sensation, who was the first man to don the mask and assume the identity of the infamous “Mantis” persona, stood side-by-side both Doe and Devil in The Hellfire Club in their quest to destroy Super Hentai. Hentai now knows old foes are re-aligning for one last shot at destroying him.
UPDATE: Super Hentai has revealed his choice of tag team partner and it’s none other than “The Screaming Climax” Dirk Ciglar! Hentai & Ciglar have a noted history of friendship and fighting alongside one another, but have not teamed together in four years. Will they have the chemistry and continuity to overcome the re-united Hellfire Club? Or will Doe and the original Mantis once again have Hentai’s number?

Sterling James Keenan vs. Mr. Wrestling III
A contrast in styles if there ever was one as two very distinct and unique personalities will clash in one of the evening’s feature bouts. One, Sterling James Keenan, is infamous as a calculated evil genius. The man behind “Iron City Hardcore” has conquered the world, appearing in virtually every major promotion in existence, and winning championships on multiple continents. His opposition is a transplant from another era of thought. A man who stands for the class and tradition that this fine sport was built upon: Mr. Wrestling III, the latest in a succession of skilled athletes to don the trademark white mask and carry on the namesake of Mr. Wrestling. Sterling has promised he has something special in store for Mr. Wrestling III, but will it be enough? Will the time-tested tactics of the Mr. Wrestling school of thought be enough to tame SJK? Or will Mr. Wrestling III be forced to follow the creed encrypted across Sterling’s own knuckles: “Stay Down”?
PWX Heavyweight Title Match: “Spotlight” Scottie Gash vs. Chris LeRusso
NWA East, perhaps better known in the area for over a decade and a half as Pro Wrestling express (PWX) is one of the most recognized promotions in the history of Pittsburgh wrestling, and was also one of the promotions Devil Bhudakahn called home. It is with great pride that we announce PWX will be represented on this card in the highest form possible: a defense of the organization’s top prize: The PWX Heavyweight Title. Champion Scottie Gash, only a few weeks removed from defeating previous record-setting champion Chris Taylor, defends the gold against one of the area’s most promising youngsters, the current PWX Three Rivers champion, and one of the many men lucky enough to have sat beneath the Devil Bhudakahn learning tree, Chris LeRusso, who will be looking for what could be a career-making victory.
Sexual Harassment vs. The Devil’s Advocates
It was the rivalry that dominated tag team wrestling in this area in 2002-2003. A war that saw bones broken, dreams shattered, and two very contrasting lifestyles do whatever it took to become the best in the region. Month in and month out, Devil Bhudakahn led the Advocates into battle against Sexual Harassment, and no matter what the stakes or stipulations, fans were always left with confrontations they would not soon forget. The IWC Tag Team Titles changed hands a staggering five times during this rivalry, a testament to its competitive nature and constant high stakes. On March 8, these two sides collide for the first time in nearly five years, renewing a tag team series still fresh on the minds of all who witnessed it.
“Balls Hot” Troy Lords vs. Jason Gory
Arguably two of the most improved area stars in recent times, both Lords and Gory have taken their game to new heights. For Troy, “Balls Hot” has been “balls to the wall” since rising to the occasion and capturing his first major singles title, the IWC Super Indy Title, in early-2007. The young veteran has pushed himself farther and harder than most in order to prove all his critics that he is truly deserving of his accolades. Meanwhile, Jason Gory has thrived in the tag team ranks, recently capturing the IWC Tag Team Title with partner Shiima Xion, a title he now holds for the second time. Two men who love to push the envelope and take risks, these men definitely embody the spirit and the mindset that Super Hentai and Devil Bhudakahn had during their classic rivalry nearly a decade ago.
CWF Heavyweight Title: The Beast vs. Powerhouse Hughes
The Championship Wrestling Federation, based in southwest Pennsylvania, has been a staple of wrestling in the region for many years, hosting some of the area’s most promising young stars and well-respected veterans. It was also one of the promotions Devil Bhudakahn called home before his tragic passing. CWF will be well represented at the Devil Bhudakahn Memorial Show, as its most dominant champion defends against perhaps its greatest champion. The Beast has dominated CWF since capturing its top prize, gaining a staggering nineteen straight victories. His top student, and perhaps the greatest CWF Champion in history, Powerhouse Hughes, is the current top challenger and looks to reclaim the title he once held for over one full year. It’s the first ever meeting between teacher and student with very high stakes and deep meaning.

NOAH UK Update

The Streamer Section (£50 Tickets) have now sold out completely and the last chance to get hold of 1 pair of these will be in an upcoming competition in Powerslam Magazine. More details to be announced on this soon.
March’s issue of Fighting Spirit will feature a huge interview with Doug Williams and have a competition to win some exclusive Noah goodies that are not available elsewhere. Kotaro Suzuki debuted for NOAH in December 2001. The 29-year-old aerialist has been wowing crowds with his acrobatics for years, but really made an impact in 2007 when he and partner Ricky Marvin reigned as GHC junior heavyweight tag champions for most of the year. Suzuki is tipped to become the star of the junior heavyweight division’s singles ranks this year. The female favorite uses the Misty Crush, Blue Destiny and 619 as finishing moves
Taiji Ishimori is a disciple of Ultimo Dragon, having been trained by the former WCW cruiserweight champion. Ishimori was initially a star in Dragon’s Toryumon X promotion, where he impressed audiences with his state-of-the-art moves such as the Superstar Elbow. Ishimori showed his intentions of following in the footsteps of KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji as a junior heavyweight division player, when he and KENTA won the NTV Cup in July 2007. Taiji has also just signed with pro Wrestling Noah full time.
Bison Smith is an American powerhouse who has been one of NOAH’s top foreign stars over the last seven years. Smith was trained by All Pro Wrestling and debuted in 1998. He first appeared for NOAH in 2001 and competed for the GHC World title in 2003 and 2007. Bison Smith has wrestled in Puerto Rico and for several independent promotions in the US, and is influenced by Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. Bison’s finishing move is the Bisontennial.

PTW ‘New Beginnings’- Sat 2nd February, Wakefield

PTW Owner Peter Staniforth tried to start the show in a good mood, but when the microphone cut out to white noise and interference, his infamous temper snapped; “Can’t you Northern monkeys do ANYTHING right?”. And so set the tone for his mood for the rest of the evening. A fan got so fed up with Peter’s insulting of all things Northern (”I’m not saying you Northerners are inbred, but when I looked in the local phonebook; you all had the same surname”), that he jumped into the ring and was subsequently attacked by Peter’s bodyguard ‘GoldenGloves’ Paul McSherry; and had to be taken out by the St John’s Ambulance crew. This lead us into the first match of the evening….
** ‘GoldenGloves’ Paul McSherry defeated Matt Myers.
** ‘100 %’ Dan Edge & Kyle Ashmore defeated ‘The Natural Superstars’ Darren Mason & Nathan Irwin.
** Danny Devine defeated Geraden, to win the right to be ringside for the PTW Cruiserweight Title match later in the evening.
** Mr Portugal defeated Jay Cool w/Peter Staniforth, which lead to an impromptu dance contest with the three of them; and an appearance by ‘The Dark Angel’ Mayhem accompanied by Dan Edge, as Mayhem destroyed both competitors with a double chokeslam and Shabazz made the save. This would lead to events later on the show…
** Damned Nation defeated Mojo & Martin Kirby.
** NEW PTW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION: ‘G’ The Ghetto Superstar defeated Dan Ryder (w/ Danny Devine & Ms Ryder), to become PTW Cruiserweight Champion for a second time.
** Stevie Lee defeated John Chapman.
** NEW PTW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: Shabazz w/Peter Staniforth defeated ‘Exotic’ Leo Dekker, to become the new PTW Heavyweight Champion (as the title had been declared vacant in November 2007).
After Shabazz’s victory, the celebration was interrupted once more by ‘The Dark Angel’ Mayhem, and Dan Edge; as Mayhem attacked Shabazz and left him laying with the PTW and TBW Heavyweight titles left over his body in the sign of a cross. Staniforth was about to challenge Mayhem and his manager Edge to a future PTW Heavyweight Title match, when Shabazz took the microphone and beat him to it.
The show ended as Peter admitted he may well have been wrong about the Northern fans, as they had shown Shabazz a lot of love; and he accepted he’d got them wrong. Thanking the fans for their support, and for taking PTW in and making them very welcome for the evening; the show ended as all PTW shows seem to end, with the words - “We are Power Trip Wrestling…. and we love you too!”
